With the trucking industry facing many major changes, such as emissions regulations and electronic logs, many folks have decided to restore their older trucks to like new condition again, rather than replace them. Along with that, comes a passion for things that are retro, yet modern. Such is the case for Coldwater, MI based trucker, Phil Knowlan.
Lets start with the basics, what you see here is a 2017 Peterbilt 389 with PDI tuned Cummins power and an 18 speed transmission and a 291” wheelbase, from there nothing about this truck is basic!
It all started as an idea between two companies back in 1980, Consolidated Peterbilt and Double Eagle Industries. What if we put a Double Eagle Sleeper on a cabover was the question. The next question was how do we attach a Double Eagle sleeper to a cabover?
This 1975 Peterbilt 359 is owned by David White of Old Iron Trucking from Locke New York.
